The Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon was formed to promote the educational features and protective measures involved in the proper care, trialing, and breeding of purebred dogs; to foster interest in the trialing and showing of purebred dogs both on the bench and in the field; to conduct, participate in and cooperate in the holding of field trials, contests, bench shows, and exhibitions for dogs.
The Dog Fanciers’ Association of Oregon has been holding dog events since 1939 (85 years!), most of that time at the Portland Expo Center.
Meeting Times
| Meeting times and locations are changing. In response to our survey, most meetings are going to be via Zoom to allow more members to attend and will begin at 7:00 PM. The calendar to the right lists all meetings and if you click on the meeting, the Zoom link will be there. In-person meetings will still be at the Holiday Inn, but now begin at 7:30 PM. |
Sad News
Long-time member Mark Van Alstyne passed away on November 16, 2024.
We are sad to report that long-time DFAO member Sally Crino, has passed away. Her funeral was July 26th.
Another sad loss is long-time member, Shirley Rafferty on July 30th. There will be no service.
January 15-19, 2025
Our biggest event of the year is the Rose City Classic dog shows in January at the Portland Expo Center in conjunction with the Tualatin Kennel Club. Many types of dog sports are offered, conformation, obedience, rally, agility, scent work, and temperament testing, along with a chance to Meet the Breeds.
